Chat rooms

I wondered if anyone on here uses chat rooms regularly and what do you get out of them?

I've looked in now & again but I can't see that you can have any decent /interesting conversation - it moves too fast and seems to be all one line remarks.
I much prefer a forum where you can have in depth discussion and take your time.

That's just my opinion and not meant as a criticism.
Are there any chat room users here?

I had a dabble, but was never sure who I was responding to, couldn't be bothered to perfect the technique, there was much one-upmanship.

When I was very new to the internet I went into a chat room, on a forum for older people. I was struggling to keep up and a man asked if he could message me with some advice. In my naivety I agreed. The only thing that I learned from that experience was that there are some right perverse people out there. Never been into a chat room since.

years ago I used Paltalk, I could use a microphone to talk to the Mods running the forums, mostly I preferred the Quiz rooms which were great fun

Yes, I once went in a chat room by mistake!! I was on a Genealogy Forum and clicked on Chat to be nosey and see what it was! I was bombarded by people saying hello and I just couldn't keep up!!!! I'm a reasonably fast typist but that was too overwhelming.

Got a small chat room on another forum I'm on (Honey knows which one!) and that is OK, mainly because there aren't many of us on it!

I registered the over50schat.com domain as well - and have thought about putting a chat room there
