Traffic

There seems to be an assumption that traffic levels are higher than they "used to be". Yesterday I had cause to drive a road I had not driven for 25 years or so, it was a road the wife use to drive as a rat run, on her way home from work, to avoid the congestion on the main route out of the city. No one seems to use this route any more, which must mean either the traffic on the main route is better managed, or, people are now more patient and prepared to wait, or, there is actually less traffic, what would you put it down to?.

Re: Traffic

I guess it depends which road you happen to be on Paul I hadn't noticed less traffic anywhere.

Definately not LESS traffic, like so many things these days the horendous overcrowding on the small island is evident wherever you look.

That road may have been quiet at that moment in time, but over a longer time frame you would find it is carrying more traffic than ten years ago, ALL the roads in UK are carrying more traffic.

Nobody seems to care

Re: Traffic

Is there a new ring road or alternative route motorists are using instead now, perhaps for the very reason it used to be so congested?
