Trees

A pine tree in our front yard, showing a lightning scar...killed the top 30 feet of the tree but she has lived for 25 years since that happened. I was in the kitchen about 70 feet away when that happened.

What have you got for the subject of trees?

Re: Trees

Close shave Shirley, not photographed many trees myself.

Kielder Forest, largest working forest in England, (250 square miles) and Northern Europes largest man made lake. View from Bakethin raptor viewpoint, great place to see birds of prey.

Yikes Shirley, that must've been a tidge on the scary side!

There are trees all along the mighty Skeena River here in northern BC.

Re: Trees

Just looking at that twisted hazel made my back ache!

Meg - do you have a spring pic of that copse - I bet it's beautiful!

Nom - that looks like a lovely spot. I've not heard the term 'working forest' before. We're surrounded here by forest, and forestry is big business in this province. But it seems there's always some controversy about logging and forest ecosystems.

Twizard - I love that shot. I must stand under a tree and look up when it's wearing it's fall colours - a great perspective!

Re: Trees

These are Plane Trees that have been savagely pollarded. They are in the courtyard of a hotel in town and, on a dark winter morning with mist swirling about them, they can look quite sinister. I have been commissioned to write a story about them. I cannot decide whether it should be a children's ghost story or a more adult mystery ! This photo is not mine - it is from the hotel brochure.
