girdles - not again?

Hello

I’m a new girl here, please be gentle with me!

I’ve got teenage grand-daughters who are busy cramming themselves into spanx – and one is buying a corset.

Now I’m sure that I’m not the only one who can remember when everyone over the age of 16 wore a girdle (grandmothers wore corsets!). We’ve been through women’s lib, feminism, individual freedom etc.

So, why are the young trying to get into tight clothes that we thankfully left behind a long time ago?

B

Because they want a shape they are unable to get by diet and exercise. I think if they are happy and doing it for themselves then good luck to them. If they are unhappy or doing it because they are compelled then not a good thing at all. So it is to be judged on an individual basis.

Modern shape wear is a mile away from the old corsets that cut you in half Much more comfortable.

I used to wear winkle pickers as a teenager-no wonder I've got bunions now!

OMG.... Remember those horrible contraptions of the 60s that were thigh length and held garters to hold up your hose? Those things digging in your legs all day and pinching your guts... NEVER again... I don't care how fat I look in pants...

That's great news for me Eliza, I still got two pairs up in the attic, one pair has buckles on them, practically brand new.
