Butterfly

This beautiful creature was in the garden this afternoon, I had to run inside for the camera and just managed to snap it before it flew off. They are so inconsiderate and just will not stay and pose. I´m not sure exactly what it is but I think some kind of Swallowtail.

We went a walk in a nature reserve this morning and there were dozens of butterflies but the darn things wouldn't settle.

They are such inconsiderate creatures, they are so beautiful you would think they´d be happy to stay and pose for us

Lovely photo but a shy person inside those lovely wings

Its called a Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly. Not seen one of
those before only on a photo.

I did see a Marbled Fritillary on my plants last week. Only
one though so hope it finds some other to breed with. It
was lovely and I couldn't run inside to grab my camera either

Thank you BowieEyes, I knew it was some kind of Swallowtail. We see them quite frequently but they settle only for seconds before they are off again. It´s just most inconsiderate of them

I do believe its a Scarce Swallowtail butterfly, not in fact scarce in your part of the world. Rare over here, but seem to be more sightings each year.

I just adore Butterflies soooo much I have a few sort of things with pictures of them. I love when we are on holiday go round a Butterfly Pavilion and see them close up in all their beauty .
