Cold Callers

I don't have caller id on my phone subscription and this morning the cold callers have been driving me MAD

Half the time when I answer the phone there is just silence at the other end, presumably because someone else answered the multiple dialler first; the rest of the time it's someone who doesn't want to sell me anything (aye right) but who just wants a few moments of my time for me to answer some questions. (Aye right again!)

They're just a scourge.

They are - I tell them what I think of them too !
A whistle down the phone usually does the trick - get yourself one !

Oh I'm too much of a softy for that Patsy. I think of the poor folk trying to earn a crust, and just politely tell them I'm not interested. I don't blame the individuals so much as the organisations they are working for. Unless of course it's one of the 'Windows Service Team' calls which are just downright criminal. They get short shrift.

True - depends who it is, I have seen some of these operators at work on TV docus - shameful they are ........

Double glazing madam ? I live on a canal boat
Roof repairs ? middle floor flat
Any other building work ? can you just ring this number and speak to the council as they own the building ?
Surveys ? sorry I am just visiting don't have any idea when owner will return.
Anything else I try to engage them in conversation, how are they ? what is their weather like ? ...... they soon hang up

I used to get mad now I just treat them as the jokes they are.

I have been known to respond in a foreign accent - land of Zod I think

My usual reply is ..can you call back in 18 months as the person they want is in prison for fraud
