Do You Belong To An Auto Club?

I do & it sure has paid off because I once had to use all 4 towing allowances in one year before our Buick had to have the engine replaced, ouch!

One tow would've cost us over $400 because I was in Toronto which is within my 120 mile Auto Club plan but a LONG ways away! Amazing both times I found things to talk about with the driver on the way home I'm shy & especially by myself with a male driver for 100 miles!

It was neat tho sitting way up in a truck

Yes we belong to both AA and RAC we like AA best but they won't recover our campervan as it's too big so we use RAC for that.

Re: Do You Belong To An Auto Club?

I used to belong to the Morris Minor Owners Club, does that count?

I have got breakdown cover with my car insurers, but if you break down and you have dogs with you, it's "up to the breakdown man's discretion" whether he will let them in his vehicle with you. They have to stay in the vehicle being towed.
I daresay they might allow one little dog to sit on your lap, but certainly not big dogs or multiple dogs. I often wonder what would happen if you were towing a horse box when you broke down?

Just joined the RAC a couple of days ago. Have been meaning to do it for ages.

We took breakdown insurance through the Green Insurance Co as they cover us when driving in Europe for very little extra premium.

I haven't found a breakdown organisation that will guarantee to take dogs, last time we broke down even 5lb Betty was not allowed to sit on my lap so I waited and got a bus back with her. Not sure what I would do now with Elsie and Betty, bus would be a bit difficult. Perhaps a taxi ?

Not if you conked out on the motorway with the dogs! I'm not even sure if all taxi's accept dogs (other than guide dogs), It's tricky isn't it Julie.

It is indeed one thing I am certain of I will never again do what we had to do when we were travelling with 3 dogs, a few years ago, leaving them in the vehicle while it was raised at the front and dashing back down the motor way in the swaying vehicle on their own. Never again.

I agree, I wouldn't do that to mine either.

I'm a gold member of the NRMA

Mind you all that means is that I have been a member for over 25 years and I get a slight discount on my expensive membership for road services I rarely use (the last time was two cars ago).
