Martians in France?

Out for a walk with Le dog ...

I saw some strange lights and ominous clouds up ahead..
The grass had gone orange and something appeared to be hiding behind the broccoli tree.

Intrepidly we ventured closer - have the martians landed? Are we all doomed?

They got me they got me with their Martian death-ray, I have fallen and I can't get up. AARRGGHH

Hang on a minute my shoelaces were undone. . .

Absolutely! But why is it he reserves his sudden deafness when being called for when other people are around? It's as if he wants to show me up as a useless dog owner with an out of control dog
