Watching the Builders!

We've got a new development going up opposite and it's been quite entertaining watching things progressing - or not as the case may be!

A few weeks ago it was torrential rain and the 4 houses in front open to the elements but with insulation actually in place - getting soaked - oooops!

Two purchasers turned up to view progress so far - not Happy Bunnies!!

Then we had the BT saga - new telegraph pole brought in, positioned and set in concrete then all lines, including ours, switched over to new pole.

Keep with me here!

Crew turns up to re-do something else for BT and digs up all around new pole!
BT crew not happy & moaning at subbies about pole etc!

All new backfill & tarmac for cabling and pole done and levelled - Everybody's 'appy!!

Next day Anglian Water dig it all up 'cos a drain's a bit iffy - pongs too!

BT back - very peed-off!

Two days later and calm descended but not for long.

Back Hoe for builders excavating out in front of new houses digs up new BT Cable - Oooops Mark II.

BT Contractors back to fix builder's balls-up - nearly everyone 'appy by lunchtime next day when they all go down the Enigma Pub up the road for a Pub lunch - while the Anglian Water crew turn up to re-do the drain!

Right now we've got people digging out hardcore and concrete the builders laid yesterday - dunno why 'cos everyone's shouting - very shouty people here!!

Decided not to even look their way now "Who you lookin' at chief - eh?!" - not worth the agro.

(Thought he was Romanian?!)

Well, tomorrow is just another day.........stevmk2

Re: Watching the Builders!

I do remember seeing an elecricity board worker using a pick to find an underground supply cable. He found it, by putting said pick through the cable.

He was dancing like an animated puppet before being blown clear, luckily he was ok but must admit to a Black Laugh, the kind that Mutterly used to do.

Wow Steve! What a bungling load of idiots. But who needs tv or a hobby when you've got that you can watch, and a different episode every day!! Lol.

Keep us posted.

Son works for Anglia Water - lol. He doesn't dig holes though, he's a Water Treatment Process Controller (whatever that is).

Re: Watching the Builders!

Sounds even worse shambles than here, when they resurfaced the road then a couple of weeks later the gas board came along and dug it all up to put new pipework in. Crazy.

Re: Watching the Builders!

All quiet for the last two day - so far anyway.

We had one chap pulling loads of cable out of a side wall, grumbling away all the time to himself and he's been back this morning putting a whole new load of cabling back in!

Oh yes and the mini back-hoe caught the concrete shed base they laid yesterday morning so two more have been back re-doing that but it all seems to be inside working now.

They did put in some sad-looking bushes I noticed the other day but I didn't see anyone water them since or even water them in!

With the amount of hard core, rubble and cement in the "top soil" they spread out everywhere yesterday, they'll be set solid soon!

Nice to have a bit of peace now the kerbs are all in too! stevmk2
