Im guessing thats a slow worm, only seen one a very long time ago. Your secon deer has you spotted, the eye contact works.

Yes it's a slow worm, glad it wasn't an adder. The deer was facing the other way and I just started to talk to it and it turned round to face me, I was very near to take the photo.

ive got a photo of a young Bull calf just like in your photo, it didnt grow any bigger than yours and it got bullied by other calfs so it was given to a Childrens out door Center.

When I approached I thought that the deer was a dummy it was so still. They are wild but hang around the hotel and raid the rubbish bins.

Hi Braveheart, when I did the West Highland Way I came face-to-face with a magnificent stag but I wasn't into photography in those days.

I think Deer's are so beautiful. I suppose thats how they survive so long by surveying their surroundings.
