A Smoking related Question.

I was thinking about this as I was about to fall asleep last night and I just remembered it now.
If, for some reason a smoking person was in a coma for a year or more, when he came out of it would he still have the urge to smoke? Surely all the nicotine would be long gone from his system and he would be 'Cured' of the habit. I know that if I was off the smokes for a year I would be off them for good, and never go back.

Dunno Jem, but it made me wonder if your body could get withdrawel symptoms and do 'cold turkey' if you were in a coma too?

It is certainly a valid question, strange what we think about before we go to sleep.

I knew someone would say that, just left it in to find out who.

I guess it would depend upon the level of psychological addiction of the individual concerned. The physiological addiction would certainly have gone, but the psychological urge to indulge might still be there.

My Mother was addicted to chocolate, after giving birth, the first thing she wanted was chocolate - not the baby ....

Re: A Smoking related Question.

Great question Jimmy!

They say nicotine is more addictive than heroin, and that weaning off it is best. I actually gave up twice going cold turkey - but around 6 months later started up again! It's only when I got those patches, and weaned myself off them that I managed to stay off them (bout 10 years now).

So I am not sure - I'd guess they might easily go back on them, as weaning is the best way to kick the habit...

Re: A Smoking related Question.

id say the craving would have gone as the body would have been flushed out of the nicotine while in the coma .They might have lost all memory of smoking as well ..
