What is this ???
Today i was putting up my new fence , when i went to dig a post hole I found something very interesting ..First I had to cur through a very thick root, when cutting through it i found it had grown through some metal mesh.......underneath that was some very corroded metal sheet then i found a slab of stone / concrete and thought it was general building rubble ...ofter i got through that I found what seemed to be a wall tiled with white ceramic tiles with a metal frame in one corner ....I went 2 ft down and it was still going, but I was putting up a fence not archaeology...i took some photos and filled it in for another time ...my thoughts are Is it a posh air raid shelter ??? as the standard shelters were Anderson shelters its below ground my house was built in 1932 ...i cant think of anything else and it definitely isn't a Roman villa what do you think ..

I have filled the hole in at the moment as i needed to put up the new fence as my neighbour wanted her privacy
and also keep the dogs in my garden ....I will look at my deeds they show when the house was built and see what was here then ....I do no that about 800 yds away there used to be a pit which was then a land fill but i dont know when that has now been filled in landscaped and is a park ...I also know that the land search detailed several gravel pits near my property but none actually that close ...as far as i know this was virgin land when the area was developed in the late 20's early 30's...i will have research a bit more
