What's in a name?

Before I say anything else I really like it here. This forum was a great idea.
However I'm not sure about the name
I am over 50 so can anyone explain to me why I hesitate to tell people about something called the Over 50s Forum?

mmmmmmm I do agree that it doesn't have that "Oh come and take a look" ring about it, does it? But on the other hand it does explain exactly what's in the box.

I think it's quite exclusive in that regard - so many people will probably only tell other people who they think or know are over 50. It's a bit like a secret society

Hmmm, interesting.
But what else could it be called? I hate Senior as a description and don't care for the Silver Surfer thing either.
Don't know if Azz had this title registered for a while but it feels quite a good one to me. There's 50+forum which I know about and other local names but I think he's snaffled quite a good one here

Re: What's in a name?

I am quite flattered at being referred to as a member of an 'over 50' forum

When you are over 60 you are grateful for such things

Re: What's in a name?

I'm still (only) 44 and it doesn't bother me belonging to an over-50s forum. OH is however well over 50 and he'd rather have his fingernails pulled out than admit to belonging to something such as this (not that he does). He throws a right wobbly if anything vaguely 'saga-esque' comes through the post for him LOL!

Thats a man thing Yola, my Hubby is 63, and will not get a discount card from the DIY store for over 60's

As do I, DM. But it's better than "elderly", which I really detest!!
