£50 notes

All those £50 notes you have been hoarding, will no longer be accepted as legal tender from tomorrow.

So check your cash and spend, deposit or exchange it before the 30th April deadline.

Wal had the floorboards up this morning .. surprising how many he said he found

Re: £50 notes

They gave us a deadline date over here when we went into the Euro currency Janela, that seems like donkeys years ago now, when it expired they were still taking the old money at the Central Bank, they still do as far as I know, only problem is you have to go to the bank personally no matter which part of the Country you live in. Banks don't do anyone any favours so my guess is there must be some old law regarding currency that once it's circulated it must be honoured, this date deadline just helps to make it easier for them to get it all in and disposed of as soon as possible, and maybe nab a few ex bank robbers in the process.
Just thinking about all the notes they used to put into the square charms for the charm bracelets back in the 60s/70s, £1, £5, £10, £20, I've never seen a £50 one though. They were all complete notes ironed down flat in a special press.

Never seen one myself. In the interest of educating me, please send all your unwanted £50 notes to the Nom survival fund, designed to keep all Nom`s topped up with falling down water , Sirloin steaks, and other vital necessities.

I was lucky Joe, the day of my wedding I had a £100 pound note in my hand, it only lasted a few seconds as I was paying the reception bill at the hotel, all £65 quids worth for 68 guests and eight children, including a bottle of brandy and a bottle of whiskey for the toast! 1965, God be with the days.

Re: £50 notes

Just been hunting for any £50 notes lying around. No luck. But I did find a few white fivers! Can I still spend those?

Re: £50 notes

I hate to ask this - but with what are they replacing it? Or are they not bothering?
