Are You A Fan Of Bagpipes?

I can't totally say I am & I remember one time my husband and I went to an old fashioned Christmas set in a pioneer village. Everyone was ushered into one of the very small homes & unknowingly a person suddenly started up with bagpipes!!! I was literally horrified! It was SO loud, I couldn't believe someone that stooopid would subject people to those decibels in closed quarters. I foolishly stayed until the song was over. I'd never be so submissive today. Just luckily nothing happened to my hearing. No one else was bothered by it!

I do have sensitive hearing anyway so perhaps it was just me but man did it leave a bad taste in my mouth!

Now.....perhaps if it was "All Day & All Of The Night", it would've been a different tune, literally

Yes I love the sound of bagpipes but associate them with sadness...

I like bagpipes when heard out of doors. I wouldn't want a CD of them - much prefer Uilleann pipes, it is a softer sound and a very different technique:-

Any lover of Mull of Kintyre would have to go on the record as a Fan.

I only like bagpipes if they are played in the middle of a field about 5 miles away

Re: Are You A Fan Of Bagpipes?

I do like the bagpipes, and I love the Uillean pipes they play here at the ballad sessions in some pubs, not as loud as bagpipes and the wind is produced through bellows under the arms, no puffing involved.
I also love Paul McCartney's 'Mulligans tyre' I used to buy paraffin in Mulligans Garage, old Mulligan himself used to do the tyre remoulds, rest his soul.
