Inundated by Take Away menus

I don't know what its like near where you all live BUT where I live we are
inundated with Take Away menu's being put through our doors.
I know it sounds as though I haven't got a life but last year I reckon
my poor overworked letter box had over 400 menus put through.
One Sunday afternoon we got 4 put through in about 3 hours.

What is annoying is that I don't DO Take aways whether its Curries
Pizza or whatever. My second annoyance is that some of the addresses
on the paperwork are from shops nearly 7 miles away. It states on the menu
that its free delivery up to 3 miles so why are they being put in my box???

I once was so annoyed with it all I made my neighbours laugh. I threaded
about 50 menus on a piece of string. I put them outside hanging from the door
with a big message saying
Free take away menus please take one as I don't want any of them.

I think I made my point. If only for a short time. laugh.

Have you got the same problem????????

Re: Inundated by Take Away menus

I hope I don't regret saying this but we don't get that many take away leaflets where we live.

But we are outside of the town, maybe this is the reason.

That is excessive over kill with menus Bowie Eyes no wonder you were mad.

Yep, same here
I have been known to catch them in the act and give them back .. !
My neighbour has a sign on her door, NO JUNK MAIL, CIRCULARS etc., but it makes no difference
None of the take-aways are near, it's quite a few miles to our nearest.

We get them all the time regardless of the 'No junk post' sign, we never eat takeaway food.

Re: Inundated by Take Away menus

It seems pretty universal but at least they help to fill the recycle bin...

Yes and we too don't eat take away so it's such a waste of paper. However more annoying is our telephone number is very similar to the indian take away it's so normal now to be rung in the evenings we turn off the phone but if we forget we take orders promise to deliver and ring off. It's easier than keep explaining they have the wrong number especially if the person has been drinking !

My block has 6 flats but recently I counted over 12 copies of the same junk mail put through our letter box. I hope the postman wasn't expecting one of us to deliver the rest! We always get more than our six.

We get them regularly too and they go straight in the recycling bin.
