NHS - Fraud

Panorama investigation docu ......
Watched this and was so shocked to hear of the amount of fraud going on in the NHS. 5 billion lost to fraud !
One worker highlighted, stole products from the stockroom and put them on Ebay. He stole over time - £75,000 worth.
An NHS dentist did work on patients that was not needed, also damaging their teeth to require further work.
Claiming for gold fillings, not used, also for dentures, not used, patients had their own teeth. Combining the 'extended' bodged work and bogus claims, his total amounted to £782,000 !

Another dentist, living the high life as 75 per cent of her claims were bogus.
And - the budget for fraud inspectors has been 'cut' !
Whereas the DWP fraud inspectors were always well above the NHS and no cuts there, for miniscule fraud - compared !

Re: NHS - Fraud

I watched it Patsy and it was shocking.
What really surprised me was that in some instances there a appeared to be no one keeping track of the stock.

No wonder the health service is in such a state with this level of fraud going on..

Any company where they have unlimited cash and no stock checks would have these problems. Part of the huge problem is they are not playing with their own money so they have no reason to use it correctly. In private companies owners use their own money so they watch the pennies being spent.

Its such a vast amount, that it really would solve a lot of problems.
The Government should tighten up on this, not cut back !

What is really shocking is we never hear of management losing their jobs when they fail, bet the people taking stuff have long gone from their jobs though.

I would say it beggars belief but when MP's, bankers and energy companies and goodness knows who else are on the make is it any wonder the man in the street thinks it's acceptable to help themselves.

The NHS are expert at bending rules. At one government 're-organisation' our Administration was told to lose one entire management level. Did they do it? Yes. Did any one lose their job? No. What they did was re-jig the job descriptions and eliminate the word 'Manager'. Everyone stayed exactly where they were.

Three level 2 managers ganged up to remove a third who was not pulling her weight - did she lose her job? No. She was promoted !

It is just madness that no-one keeps a watch on what goes on. If I won mega bucks on the lottery I would never donate cash to the NHS. I would pay a nurses wage for a year, or buy them equipment, but give them cash? Never.
