I did not always agree with him - but he was, at least, honest in his convictions and he was a brilliant orator. His 'after dinner' speeches were often hilarious.
That's sad, sat on his knee back in 1967 really nice man and very kind to my granddad when he was ill. Not too many so honest these days in parliament either so he is a loss.

Truly a man of principle, most of which I disagreed with but a huge character on the political stage, the likes of which we will be lucky to ever see again.
Like many I disagreed with a lot of Tony Benn's views but he was that rare creature, a politician with integrity who truly believed in the things about which he spoke.
