Life should mean life.....

" the Court of Appeal backed the Government’s argument that “life should mean life” in the “most heinous cases”. Seven months ago the Strasbourg-based human rights court had said all convictions should be reviewed after 25 years regardless of the offences committed."

Am glad that there appears to be some justice in the world....!

I felt exactly the same Jazziwoz.
What's the point in putting someone who has murdered numerous people away for a few years. They have taken one or more lives away and that means to me theirs is not as it was beforehand. They should have no rights just like the poor people they have murdered.
I would love to see who these Judges are in the Strasbourg courts and give them a piece of my mind.

Some people will never be safe to release into society I always think if the judges and parole boards wouldn't be happy to take into their own home the people they free then they probably should not be being released.

Finally they have agreed life means life for these cases.

It always amazed me when they sentenced someone to life and then said to be reviewed after 25 years.

I hope a few more of these rules dictated by the EU a looked at a bit more closely in the future. This is a good decision.

Maybe its time to bring back the death penalty for murder, empty the prisons a bit.

No Annie darlin' - emphatically not!!! there have been far too many miscarriages of justice to make a 'death' penulty safe, and besides which - we are far more civilised to contemplate the return of the death penulty.
