Royal Chinese Worcester.

Browsing the crockery in John Lewis yesterday saw they had Royal Worcester mugs on display. Remembering that the company went into liquidation some time ago had a look at the underside. No traditional Royal Worcester mark, just the name. Finally found it on the back of the label in very small print "Made in China". Yak, thought things were improving when M&S started going away from Chinese manufacture to Cambodia, Indonesia and Turkey

Re: Royal Chinese Worcester.

Did it occur to you that it was the label that was made in China to disguise the fact that the mug was made by those fiendish devils the English in Worcester?

I found it very sad when production stopped a great English name gone, and this is even sadder they should have protected the name I am sure it must have been possible.

waterford crystall is no longer made in waterford either, we are loosing all our great brands, even little things like our sugar is getting harder to find, silver spoon is the only British sugar , all the others are foreign cane sugar.

Re: Royal Chinese Worcester.

When we visited Malvern last year we went to see the Worcester factory, not realising it had closed. Just a museum there now...

Re: Royal Chinese Worcester.

They sold the name to Portmerion Pottery, who apparently are buying stuff in China and sticking the Royal Worcester name on it !
