Traffic Lights

When popping home from work this morning, as usual I approached a busy traffic island that I have to negotiate on a daily basis. The direction I approached from meant I had to travel through five sets of traffic lights on the island itself, now from experience, I knew what the score was on seeing the change to red of the first set so I came to a halt, this set eventually went green, I accelerated just in time for the next set to go red, after this set went green, the next set went red and so on, is this a deliberate ploy to facilitate the free movement of traffic in general, or some engineer taking the mick?.

Re: Traffic Lights

Paul I am guessing those tiny cameras they have on traffic lights saw you little stressed face through the windscreen and decided to change the lights to 'p' you off

It worked....

Maybe it is one of those hidden camera jokes on the public to be televised later . . .

Re: Traffic Lights

How can you travel through five sets of traffic lights on one island? A further explanation of this is needed for us road users! Do you mean a roundabout?

I know Spitfire's location is given as "The Windy City" which for me is Chicago, but there's no traffic "island" I know of which has five sets of traffic lights, so yet again, I am confooosed and, what exactly is a traffic "island?" Traffic lights allow 2 - 4 minutes to change in my experience, depending on how heavy the traffic is and there are no traffic lights on roundabouts here except perhaps in big cities, but I've never seen any personally as I don't live in a city.

When I lived in Berlin the biggest "roundabout" I drove through had two sets of traffic lights and four lanes of traffic. What fun that was!

Re: Traffic Lights

Hello Mollie, Google map, J9 M42 (Dutton Island) and count the Traffic Lights, surely a traffic island is an "Island" in a roundabout kind of way.
