If you mean by "mucking about" that we lack focus & direction in our lives , waste our allotted span of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years; I would reply
Because we're imperfect & prone to disorder rather than order in our stewardship of life, the universe and everything.
WE have no control over our number of days on this Earth & we may go even before we can realise whatsoever puny & ill thought out plans we may have made.
Not so on my home planet of Greendoor, where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats ......................

Are we really mucking about though - with regard to this forum anyway? Are we not prodding and probing to ascertain who is what and how they react? You can find out loads by attempting to appeal to a person's sense of humour - or lack of. Not sure we ever muck about really on this forum. We are all secretly, or unknowingly, collecting data on everyone at all times; well I am anyway

Life is to be enjoyed, not endured. If that includes mucking about then that's fine by me! Do we want to be like the oppressed people in other countries who work all hours, and have their lives monitored and live by strict regimes?We are blessed in that we have the freedom to live how we want. I don't feel I was put on this earth to 'not muck about'. So I'm gonna have fun, whatever that involves!!!
