I'm sad and sorry

Yesterday driving home from a shopping trip...a pheasant walked right in front of my car...i couldn't avoid it, i hit it and when i looked in the rear view mirror i saw it's feathers flying about, what a terrible feeling it was.i couldn't stop thinking about it.

Should have stopped taken it home and cooked it.

It's sad to see the poor bird dying like that Lisa but there was nothing you could do, his number was up, as John Wayne used to say "When yeh gotta go yeh gotta go".

Re: I'm sad and sorry

We have loads of pheasants on local roads. THey are not strictly speaking what you could call indigenous, but bred especially for toffs to shoot down.
A shame that such beautiful, ornamental, harmless creatures end up hung up in pairs in old fashioned butchers during the festive season.

At least they have a few months of freedom, unlike their battery hen cousins.

REst assured, your pheasant didnt suffer & you were right to drive on & not swerve thereby causing what could have been a nasty accident

Re: I'm sad and sorry

It's illegal to take home anything to accidentally kill on the roads but fine if you were not the person who did it, when I accidentally killed a rabbit I called a neighbour who came and took it home for his dinner. Seemed only honourable if it had to die to use it.

Does take a while to get over though so I know how you feel
