Another fatal dog attack

A four year old killed
I'm sure this is another area where The Authorities could do more in terms of enforcement ... and tweaking the law if, as we are told, the 1991 law, enacted in haste, is not fit for purpose.
It's so unfair that sweet dogs like mine (who I would never leave with a child, nonetheless - no-one should leave children and dogs alone) have people crossing the road to avoid them - also so unfair that some poor dogs leave miserable lives trailed round the streets as 'weapons on strings' for some types.

Did they say what kind of dog it was? Was it theirs? Really poor reporting from the BBC there - few facts.

I hate to hear these things and there is just too much of it. This happened at midnight to a four year old?

Re: Another fatal dog attack

I think it's a bit early to get facts - and why would the media let the facts get in the way of a good story?
It appears at this early stage, that it was the woman's (who is the dead boys gran) dog. It also appears the attack was in the middle of the night - what's that all about?
Whatever the breed, whatever the circumstances, the kid is just as dead

Of course the time of day or night doesn't change the fact poor child is dead.

Re: Another fatal dog attack

The dog is being examined and DNA tests are being done to ascertain the breed,. . . it could be a pit bull type but that's my guess.

Re: Another fatal dog attack

Terrible, terrible! When they put these dogs down, it's a pity they don't do the same with some of the owners, because without doubt in 95% of cases, it is the owner who is to blame.

And what, may I ask, is a 4 year old child doing up and about at midnight?

Re: Another fatal dog attack

More facts coming out - if they're true of course - the house was reported to the police in relation to unauthorised dog breeding months ago but no action was taken.
Shame.
As I said to begin with - sort the DDA and sort the situation. Nobody said it would be easy but - Just Do It eh?

I've been saying this for years, . . there's no such thing as a bad dangerous dog, it's the owners every time, . .

Re: Another fatal dog attack

Have you ever watched The Dog Whisperer? He has several ex-fighting pit bulls. The beta male (ie the pack leader when Cesar isn't around - (I think!)) is a lovely red bully called Daddy - he is so calm and gentle. Shows how much is down to the dog (practically nothing) and how much due to its human(s) (practically all)
