Swan song
There is a small pond near by that I can park close to and watch the water birds, some migrators and some nesters...the swans are nesters...
Is any bird more beautiful and graceful on the water?

On land he looks like a tank! They are really big birds...
Something took the eggs from the nest at hatching time and there was no young ones. She hung about the nest for 2 weeks but he left the pond and came back only now and then. After she gave up they both left and not seen since. I hope they return next spring and nest again...swans usually nest in the same area each year. I love to watch the swans..hugs, Shirley

Thank you, Mags...wonderful photos of the black swans...I hear they have very bad tempers...the white ones can aslo be extremely terretorial...even killing the canadian geese that try to live in the swan pond...a 45 acre pond with one pair of swans in it. no geese or ducks in mating time..I spent many hours this year watching the pair in the small pond and they were not very mean to the geese...one had a nest just 50 feet from the swan nest...some posturing and hissing matches but no real fights that I saw. hugs, Shirley
