Ford Car

Don't know if anyone can help but my sons Ford has a slow puncture in one wheel. The garage have told him he needs a Alloy Wheel lock to unscrew the screw in it. He has never had one with the car and they have told him that if he hasn't then they will have to wrench the wheels off and he would have to pay for 4 new wheels. Does this sound correct? Don't drive myself so have no idea but didn't sound logical to me

Pop along to somewhere like Halfords, they should be able to help him with the lock.

Bad idea, that's the sort of comment that Halfords would suggest so that they can sell him new wheels, any half decent mechanic can get them off, then you would just need a new nut.

He can take the lock nut off himself, just have a look on Youtube, it shows how to do it on there.

Re: Ford Car

There are companies that can remove a wheel, without the locking key, they advertise on the Net.

Re: Ford Car

Tell him to look further around the car, the corners of the glove box , lift the spare wheel out and see if it is underneath, all the little cubby holes and tool roll in the boot also look closely at any cellular packing around the spare wheel, on of my cars the key socket is pushed into a recess in the underside of the packing . Everything else fails read the handbook this will tell you where it is supposed to be located.
