Blood Pressure monitors

There are so many different ones around, does anyone have one that they could recommend?

I see they are priced in all ranges on Amazon and most are being sold at half price.

I have 2 Mags, . . I find the OMRON is the best, they've really came down in price recently, . . I got one of the bulb type you pump up like the doc has for a fiver, . . the other one's an electric one from Boots.

Re: Blood Pressure monitors

I have a homedics automatic BP monitor, I bought it this year when my old one gave up, I have been really pleased with it.

I know my sister bought one from the Chemist and it works just like the ones in the docs (pumps up itself) it works off batteries.

All of these bar the first one seem ok: http://www.polygondirect.com/vmchk/B...FYmY2AodsUiblA and you get a free thermometer too

Re: Blood Pressure monitors

Which type are considered the best, on the wrist ones or the upper arm ones?

The upper arm one IMO. you can get the smaller type that goes on your finger but they're not accurate.

Re: Blood Pressure monitors

Whatever you get take it to the surgery and ask you GP to calibrate it against his "official" one that way you can allow for any difference. Very useful when you suffer from "White coatisise" as I do.

Mine cost £10 from Lloyds Pharmancy and as my doc says you are only looking for trends and any worrying changes to your readings.

Re: Blood Pressure monitors

Interesting
Do you think we should all be monitoring our BP or have all you folk got a history?
Is this connected with taking statins at all?
