Yes its true, the OAP apparently holding two people hostage, was shot by SWAT team after opening fire on them.
It smells a bit like shoot first and ask questions afterwards, find it hard to believe he was dangerous. See Here

Well, if the link report is to be believed, holding people hostage at gunpoint and then shooting at the police when negotiations break down...makes him dangerous.

Inclined to agree with that logic Pats, I expect there was more to it though, there usually is.
Geez, they used stun grenades and tear gas and he fired at them with a handgun!
I would of shot the silly old bugger too! maybe that was his mission, diden't believe in suicide so he got the cops to do it?
The same stupid people who allowed him a handgun licence also issued 3 other firearms licences, and to 3 legally blind people? Yanks are bloody mad!
Tell that to the paraOlympic blind archers and shooters. We license guns for blind people in many countries most of them would shoot straighter than me LOL

Yes Julie, but its a bit different shooting on a 'range' which is heavily regulated, whereas issuing licences to registered 'blind' people to enable them to use the weapon unregulated in public is the height of madness.
