Sweeties from our past
What can you remember that doesn't appear to be around now?Do you remember buying loose sweets in 2oz quantities, in little cone shaped bags?
Sherbet pips, fizzy lemons (what was their proper name?) rhubarb and custard?
I used to like 'sweet tobacco' I think that must have been shreds of coconut dusted with cocoa.

Sherbet Shandies, gobstoppers, cinnamon sticks (I used to smoke them when I was a wee girl
), black and white striped balls, penny caramels, halfpenny caramels, licquorice strips, space ships with sherbet centres!There is a sweetie shop near the Barras in Glasgow that sells all the sweets of yester year! All sold loose! I always buy sweets in there when I go to the east end of Glasgow!
