The Year Is 2020

Britain only has enough fuel reserves to last another few years so it all has to be carefully monitored. (We're ignoring Irelands gas supply by the way for purposes of this thread)

The government of the day has said that you may only own one piece of domestic appliance that requires fuel to operate it - what will you choose to keep and why?

The Boiler, for a Combi-nation of reasons, I enjoy a bath every morning, it is impossible to wash up properly without hot water, the water is hot enough to make a pot of tea, and hot water is the only way to remove stains form from one's smalls, albeit in the kitchen sink.

Cooker, we can heat water on the stove, use it to heat a small portion of the home when it gets cold, and cook food.

I'd have a 'Rayburn' or 'Esse' range cooker that also provided hot water and central heating. Talking of which, we had 2 tons of hardwood logs for the wood burner delivered yesterday. That'll keep us going over winter - but we're knackered today from having to stack it in the wood store!

It would keep you fit though - running up and down the stairs with that little milk pan to fill the bath

I'd love one of those only problems would be getting it up the stairs and could our floors take the weight or would Ann downstairs be crushed to death by it.

Who was it in Coronation Street that had a huge circular bath fitted and when she and hubbie got in it, it crashed through the floor into the living room?
