The Mill

Anyone watch this one tonight? Its interesting as its filmed at Quarry Bank Mill, not far away from here and based on real lives at the time.

I didn't like the camerawork, ended up feeling dizzy.

Re: The Mill

It seems good, if only I could see what was going on, very dark!

Re: The Mill

It wasn't dark most of the time, did you adjust the brightness gals, supposed to create the atmosphere as it was gloomy then, no proper lighting. For me the acting could have been better, that may improve and a couple of the accents were strong, had to ask Hubbs if he knew what was being said. Now I know what to expect, I'll be all ears next week !
The feisty gal, who takes no nonsense, is my kinda gal, wish more people were like her ....

Re: The Mill

I watched it on catch up, what a disappointment . I had been looking forward to it , there is so little on TV which is worth watching at the moment.

There was very little narrative, it seemed to rely more on sensationalism and creating an atmosphere with darkness and mumbling.

Hi Baggy so did I (Lancashire) and being born and brought up in North Derbyshire among Arkwright's Mills I know a bit about the subject of the story too and would probably qualify as a northerner

A bit of narrative and subtlety wouldn't go amiss even if it 'was grim up north'

Fed up with the mumbling, the acting isn't great either - except from Esther .....
