Strange Orange Clouds Over Michigan

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/video/stran...155004899.html

How weird! I posted a while ago about these bubble clouds but orange ones!

What do you think can cause those to form in just one spot like that?

Thats odd, we were just "talking" about MAMMOGRAMS & up pops this topic.

I have reproduced a comment posted about the pics from yahoo.

viz
You'll see these "breast-shaped" mamatocumulus clouds (think of words like "mammal" or even "mama") in the midwestern US in this season. Though beautiful, they are often associated with extreme weather, though they may come after an extreme event, as well as before
.

good here ennit?

Strange though isn't it - I've never seen orange bubbles in the sky! If it is associated to weather conditions, why doesn't it happen more often and in more places?

I'd love to see it Pats. It probably comes from living on an Island where the weather doesn't do extremes so it all becomes much of a muchness - so I want orange bubbly clouds!

Karen darlin' - living on the I o M, you're unlikely to see them, indeed anywhere in the UK is unlikely to see them. I watched a programme on television last year about cloud formations and as far as I can remember, that particular cloud formation resulted from winds rising and then dropping over (large) mountain ranges. The air then 'bounces' (much like a tennis ball thrown down on the ground will bounce) it is this 'bounce' that allows the cloud formations to form.

Many thanks Uncle Joe - I knew there'd be a reasonable explanation. Still a fabulous sight to see though.

Can you remember what the programme was called? It might be on youtube (I quite like weather phenomena).
