Re: Flight Through a Lightning Storm

I've had a similar experience myself flying through a storm on a flight from Chicago to Minneapolis. The plane seemed to get 'charged up' - there was a sort of glow (St Elmo's fire ??) and sparks round the wings. Very spectacular!

Re: Flight Through a Lightning Storm

We also had a flight through a lightning storm on the way back from Greece one year. It really was scary, the plane shook, the lightning was amazing, but when the air hostesses strapped themselves in, one pulling a soft toy to pieces whilst sat, and the plane had to divert to Rimini we got a little worried. Glad to say we got home in one piece, but I wouldn't want to experience that again.

Well I'm envious of both of you (given that you both lived to tell the tale )

Good gracious, don't be envious ben-varrey, I certainly wouldn't want to have to experience it again, it was really scary being thrown about on that plane.

Re: Flight Through a Lightning Storm

I've been on a bumpy flight (where my coffee ended up in my lap!) but I'd just love to see the lightening from above the clouds. The Isle of Man is dull when it comes to weather, no extremes of anything and rarely get any lightening at all (moans she from the comfy position of not having to deal with adverse weather conditions )
