Re: Freegle

A charity for people to advertise unwanted goods to donate instead of sending to landfill.

Re: Freegle

there's also Freecycle which my friends both donate and recieve from. A washing machine came back on Freecycle that had been donated 4yrs previously and was still going strong, a microwave was on 15mins before it was collected by a couple setting up home together, a toaster by a student etc. Smashing ideas your rubbish is someone else's treasure.

Re: Freegle

Freegle is the new name (at least round in my area) for Freecycle.

Had cancelled auto updates as they came through several a day.
I notice recently I started getting updates again, but there are very few now, and most seem to be Wanted's.
Is this a sign it is on the wane?

It is a good idea, I've given loads of stuff away by this means during our various clearances.

Re: Freegle

I get the updates all day long! But still read them.

Tomorrow we have a swap going on, sponsored by the waste organisation. Morning, take things to donate. Afternoon, go and choose what you want.

I remember taking some unwanted stuff to a similar project a few years ago and thought what a wonderful idea it was. Had a devil of a job finding the venue but this one is very local to me.

I am trying to do car boots but not going so well!

Re: Freegle

We did a few car boots, but I hate the very early starts, now I can't be bothered, would rather give the stuff away via freegle, or e-bay it if suitable.

Re: Freegle

I joined freecycle, or tried to. They had rules about giving stuff before you could request stuff. Put me off at the time, I can see their point now.

Whilst on the subject, arent the big charity shops getting greedy. THe price tags , particularly on furniture , match prices for new stuff.

Re: Freegle

I've always wondered how many people use freecycle or freegle to make a profit. Can't believe that there aren't unscrupulous souls who pick up things for free and then sell them on...Which has always tended to put me off.
