Is it as good as the old stuff

Since discovering the likes of Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart when a lot, lot younger than I am now I have been hooked on the loud and if possible the original if strange. Is anything produced post 60's-70's as good? Here are some of the contemporary things I like listening to. Please add yours.

Them Crooked Vultures.

The Dead Weather.

70's music and some early 80's for me.

Like - Rainbow, Kiss, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Steve Harley, Queen, etc. But also like some easy listening, pop, folk, classic. Really if it gets in my head I'm not worried about it ticking the right box.

More recent stuff - Green Day, Blur, Presidents of the United States,

Re: Is it as good as the old stuff

I like a lot of the stuff my children listened to when they were teens. Indie music, I think, like Wonderstuff, Kinky err, names I can't remember.
And Kurt Cobain, drifting down the stairs at many decibels at strange hours .... it kinda gets to you
My son still makes up discs with 'now' stuff on, for us to listen to. It's Ok but somehow I wonder if the music which was important at landmark times of your life stays with you, burned into your soul?

I like Muse, and some of Radiohead of todays bands. And occasional singles from indies.
I think memories of the times have a lot to do with musical nostalgia - sometimes when you listen to them again they don`t sound the same.
But people like Joe Cocker, Long John Baldry, Cream, and the Stones...in their prime they were unbeatable. And we were lucky to be around at the time.
