The sun

This is my first picture taken through my new telescope ..I took it by using my mobile phone camera ...and that was difficult ....However it clearly shows a good view of the Sunspots which were visible that I was using a Skywatcher 200P (8'') reflector and a Samsung Galaxy S3 ....and before you ask I had a special Mylar metallic filter fitted to the telescope as Solar astronomy can be dangerous to your eyesight
I have ordered a proper camera bracket so I should be able to get some better shots in the future

Re: The sun

Wow! Very interesting, I thought you would burn your camera out! Did you use a special filter?

Re: The sun

The aperture of the telescope was covered with a special filter made from Mylar ..it is a metallic foil which cuts out 99.99% of the suns light...without it would result in instant blindness. I used a 15mm eyepiece which gave a magnification of approx 66x....
