DNA Database

Heard on the news this morning, that children as young as 11, are on the DNA database, around 30 a week. I'm all for the database, but maybe there should be an age starting limit - maybe starting at 16 - any views .....

Re: DNA Database

I think it's time either we are all on it or none of us TBH.

If we were all on it crimes could be cleared up pretty quickly I would imagine.

Yep - I think we should all be on it too - just thought there should be a starting age, but then criminals are starting at a younger age .....

I think that the parents should be the ones to be punished, after all its supposed to be their job to make sure the children behaved. If the police toughened up a bit and prisons were for punishment and not watching TV all day we might be able to sleep peacefully in our beds.

The trouble is Annie M - the parents are usually as bad as the kids - at least with the database, catching them is a whole lot easier !
I agree about the prisons, I did hear, they are going to be made 'tougher' .... we'll see ....
As for re-habilitation which seemed a great idea, heard nothing about any progress there

In which case, Pats darlin' - I'm a permanent 'grumpy' because there is no way on earth I would agree to allow the Police unrestricted access to my (or indeed anyone else's) DNA merely because they want to build a database. They can get stuffed, and if it ever became 'policy' I would fight tooth and claw to get that 'policy' reversed. As I stated earlier, it runs totally contrary to the Human Rights Act being an infringement of my civil liberty.
