Re: Food

That looks mouthwatering Loretta but surely that can't be for one person, can it?

Re: Food

Indeed it was just for one person Mags. It was quite funny really because everyone had starters too. Our Filipono friend is really tiny and she had just eaten a huge starter of prawns in garlic butter, I have no idea where she found room for the main meal, but she did, and a large piece of disgustingly rich and creamy birthday gateaux to follow !

Re: Food

I don't think could have managed all that in one sitting ..... if I had I think I would have suffered in the night!

It does look very attractive though

Re: Food

As this is all about 'food'

How about Chee Chong Fun?

I have had this a couple of times recently in Alor Setar, Malaysia. The first part of the name actually means Pigs Intestines but refers to the rolled up noodles. It is actually the best chicken and mushroom soup you will ever taste, thick creamy spicy full of herbs, it is food to die for.

The food in the banana leaf just sneaking in at the top of the picture is the remains of steamed seafood, fish, squid, crab, egg, spices and coconut milk all steamed wrapped in the leaf package. It is beautiful, I shall be on a diet for weeks when I return

Re: Food

How about the Penang speciality Char Koay Teow or fried noodles? More food to die for:

My mouth is watering just looking at the picture. That's the RM8 ($2.60) version The one below was from a poorer market for RM4 ($1.30) - halve the value in $ for pounds

Not quite as nice as the RM8 version but pretty damn good none the less.

Re: Food

The food photos all look wonderful. I have eaten food from banana leaf plates in Penang, which I found a real novelty at the time. There are indeed some wonderful eating places in Malaysia, I never fancied trying the paddy chicken though.

I think food dishes make wonderful photos, so colourful.

Re: Food

Today a friend and I had menu del dia at a Spanish/German restaurant, the price was 8.95 euros and included drink, dessert and coffee.
