The largest model railway in the world

Doing the rounds again
.

.
The official video about Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg,
the largest model railway in the world,
and one of the most successful tourist attractions in Germany.
On the 1.300 mē large layout, far more than a thousand trains, aircrafts,
cars and ships move about. A wonder of the world in miniature.

This will blow you away.
Amazing technology-Leave it to the Germans.

The narration is in English. Enjoy!

Re: The largest model railway in the world

I've been to Minatur Wonderland in Hamburg - it is truly mind blowing.
The video only gives you the briefest idea of what it's like. All the vehicles, trains, planes etc. move with no visible means of propulsion . The detail everywhere is perfect - all the lights work on the vehicles, indicators flash when they turn corners etc.. and most are only 2 or 3 inches long. When the planes land, they taxi to the stand, busses come to meet them etc... even the planes jet engines run.

There are wonderful bits of humour - like the space shuttle landing - (Specsavers ad.) and a large bee with passengers on its back (FlyBe).

I love Hamburg, having lived and worked there, and visit it most years.
It's a very friendly city with great shopping etc.., but it's worth going just to see the model railway!

It's very popular, so you book an entry time and you can stay there as long as you like.
