Conservatory daylight

I have a upvc conservatory with plastic roof, I wish to reduce the amount of daylight coming through it.

I have looked at fitting roof blinds but at £2k+ its a bit too much.

Is there anything that can be applied to the inside.

Thanks for that Ive had a look but it appears at first glance you apply it to the outside.

It is daylight I wish to reduce.

I believe there is a type of dark cling film available, similar to what is used on car windows to tint them. Might be worth asking the local double glazing company?

Re: Conservatory daylight

There is also "inside ceilings" but don't know the price of them, my daughter's friend has one, they do make the conservatory more like a room without all the heat in summer.

Re: Conservatory daylight

I have now done as you suggest Gabi, I have installed a suspended/drop ceiling took a day or so the result is great, incoming light is now under control and heat is reduced.

If anyone is having a new conservatory constructed I would suggest you have a solid roof, fitting roof blinds are expensive from around 2k upwards.

Cost of my ceiling £180 for all the bits ( for 10m2 ) and a few hours of my time.

Re: Conservatory daylight

Couple of things come to mind, a new product which reduces heat loss in winter and stops heat accumulation in the summer; does mean replacing your roof however you could have tinted glass.
Cheapest method would be to secure 'eyes' to framework and then attach and hang material across. You have to imagine sails or Arabian tents; this would look good!

Ok but any fabric collects dust etc and has to be cleaned and washed, I feel that the ceiling is the best option all round and what the heck £180 is small fry these days.

Re: Conservatory daylight

Just to add to my last post prior to fitting the ceiling even with a central heating radiator on without any sunshine the conservatory remained cold.

Now it is noticeably warmer because the heat is kept where it is required.
