An ideal car but I want to know:

How does it get the ticket out of the carpark entry machine and how does it pay on exit?

Bah! modern technology going backwards, she'd be quicker getting a bus and skip all the hassle of sending it up, worrying did it get there, maybe the batteries were low in the handset or what if she lost it, then waiting for it to come back down again, lazy and useless invention when they keep telling us to get more exercise.

I expect it said "Gee whiz, Please"

or

"Bitte"

and then

"Mighty grateful, have a nice day"

or

"Vielen Dank"

It is an exceedingly clever car

I imagined that car trying to find a parking space in the multi-storey I use...it would have a mental breakdown, and be a gibbering wreck by the time she came back for it.

It is very clever car and I think I may have the beginnings of this innovation on my VW and I know lots of cars now have it. The car came with "park assist" as well as the parking sensors. It will find and estimate a parking space for you and you are supposed to sit there, with your hands off the wheel and it will get you into and out of the parking space all by itself. (still have to use the brakes, gears and accelerator though). I have never used it, 'cos I find it hard to trust it, but it is supposed to help with really tight spaces.

I thought of Night Rider when I watched the clip! Does it talk, I wonder

Wouldn't like it though, it may forget to stop and go over a multi storey car park!

Eh? Why does it need to park? The car will drop you off at the front door and then it just drives around until you are ready to be picked up.

Have had that on my VW Tiguan now for two years, use it, it's brilliant and puts the car into spaces you would miss otherwise. I used it from day one and it's nothing to be frightened of.

This, however, is a whole differnt ballgame, there are so many potential problems doing this.

1. What if it was hit by another vehicle with a driver? think of all the problems that could cause, insurance etc?

2. What if two of these vehicles wanted the same, and only available, parking space?

3. What would happen everyone had a vehicle doing this at the same time?

4. What if it chose a private or disability spot?

Nice to see this technology but hard to see the practicality ?
