Relaxing.

After reading the "Shoes on shoes off thread" I wondered what people do to relax in the evening.
If we are not expecting anyone to visit, I shower and put on my pj's and dressing gown, around seven. I usually go online, watch some chosen tv programme or read. Sometimes we may play cards or scrabble. But in the summer time, providing we have one, all will change. Evening walks will be on the agenda.

Re: Relaxing.

My computer goes off before 8pm. I then join my husband for a bit of TV before going to bed usually just after 9pm. That routine rarely varies, it suits us. We don't have visitors in the evening, my husband doesn't fire on all cylinders after 6pm.

Re: Relaxing.

I watch a bit of TV and do some knitting or cross stitch until 10.30pm then go to bed, read for half and hour and go to sleep around 11.00. This rarely varies as I don't go out or have visitors much in the evenings. Prefer to relax on the sofa with my dogs.

Re: Relaxing.

I play with Loki, on my forums and watch tv in between times If my friends come for a visit unexpectedly, they are welcome! Never go to bed until nearer midnight and then I read for a while. Up between 5-6 am! I don't need a lot of sleep!

Re: Relaxing.

We have never found socialising with a lot of people relaxing even as teenagers, and avoided it when we could. Nowadays apart from visits from our close family, and one or two friends, we can avoid it altogether, thankfully.

We never have visitors in the evening unless it's a weekend barbie in the summer but haven't held any this year as OH is not too well, he usually watches a movie etc on Fox and I'll be on the puter
Always in pj's by 8'o'clock and it's 11pm so I'll say goodnight for now

Re: Relaxing.

Living alone, I love having my friends come up to visit me! I don't have any family left. I don't get lonely or feel alone though - my two parrots make sure of that

When I was a wee girl, we always had friends visit us, at night normally, or on Sundays!

I love a wee blether with some human company!

Re: Relaxing.

I like human company on a one to one basis. I have never enjoyed large parties or a lot of people around me. Maybe I am reacting to my childhood when everything seemed to be done on a grand scale. For instance Christmas was awful as we had to go to my grandmother's place, a woman I couldn't stand, and put up with her BIG Christmas do. We also hosted MEGA firework parties, on our property with 100+ people. I even dislike attending weddings and the reception afterwards usually turning down the invitations I am sent. I had to put up with ours, which my parents put on for us. Goodness knows how many people attended, I haven't a clue but it was HUGE. I didn't know most of the guest. They were friends of my parents, and political colleagues of my father. Apart from requesting a very simple wedding dress as I detest dressing up, I had no say in the matter! As I was under age at the time, 19, My father and husband to be had to go to the court so I could be signed over like a parcel. My presence wasn't required. Hey Ho!

Re: Relaxing.

I used to love parties, the more the merrier. I went to all the local dance halls and some not so local.
I still enjoy going out for lunch or an evening meal with friends and family. I also attend all the functions. I love seeing family members and how their offspring are doing.
And my particular family are in close contact, although some of them are far flung.
I'm off out to the cinema with my s-i-l and niece later. We are going to watch Les Miserables.
