The Brian Cox effect.

Professor Brian Cox seems to be getting everywhere these days. I don't blame him for that, but I heard recently that his popularity may have backfired a little.

Apparently, his fame has attracted a lot of interest from students wanting to study Astrophysics with him as the professor , but because of his work in TV and other areas, he only gives a few 'guest' lectures these days.

Re: The Brian Cox effect.

I enjoy his program subject matter but he does have a penchant for loud music which sometimes spoils it for me. Hope his new series avoids this...

There's a news item on my computer today of Brian seperating his DNA from his saliva just using washing up liquid, salt and vodka - it looked quite simple.

He shouldn't look like he does - he is supposed to wear a dirty lab coat and have wild hair..and he smiles too much
I saw that experiment Alan, he giggled when he spit into the test tube because he missed and I'm sure he wiped it on his trousers

Re: The Brian Cox effect.

I like that young man, he's cheerful and presents all the technical stuff in layman's language, even I can understand some of it, not like those toffee nose gits they used to have in the early days of TV science programs, long may we have him.
I thought at first glance George you were on about the actor Brian Cox, another very talented man.

After a dose of vodka followed by salty chips last night I had a hard job separating my body from the mattress this morning, she had to throw washing up liquid over me to get me out of the bed.

Re: The Brian Cox effect.

The problem seems to be that while he has raised interest in his subject area, students are now disappointed that he doesn't actually teach it.

Initial interest in Astrophysics is not being followed by university applications.

Not bloody surprising when they have to pay £9000.00 per year for a 3 year course.
