Sir Patrick Moore

It has just been reported that Sir Patrick Moore has died today at the age of 89.

Sir Patrick presented the BBC programme The Sky At Night for over 50 years, making him the longest-running host of the same television show ever.

He was Mr "The Sky at Night" to many and made the programme his own.

A very knowledgeable man ...... Sleep well Sir Patrick.

A wonderful man. I met him on a number of occasions and he was a true gentleman. Rest in peace Sir Patrick.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore

Sir Patrick was quite a man wasn't he, an eccentric one off I would say and his death will be a loss to the world of astronomy.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore

I used to love watching him on TV with my dad. I believe that all of his knowledge was self-taught, yet he was one of the world's leading astronomers. Sad that he's gone.

Re: Sir Patrick Moore

He gave hope to the millions that looked like they had been dragged through a hedge backwards.

I still have one of his books - Patrick Moore's New Guide to the Planets
