What will your "final song" be?

As in the song played at your funeral.

For me it will be "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I can't listen to that song without welling up because the lyrics hit me so hard on a personal note.

The final lyrics are the most poignant for me: "If I could start again, a million miles away, I would keep myself, I would find a way".

That is so true. I've done some regretful things in my time which make those words so meaningful to me.

My wife wants Roy Orbison's "Crying" at her funeral which is incidentally my favourite song.

So, what do you want played?

" My Way ".............just joking ! I've always fancied "The sun has got his hat on, shout hip-hip-hooray".

IRVING BERLIN "When I leave the world behind"

chorus goes...........

I'll leave the sunshine to the flowers
I'll leave the springtime to the trees

And to the old folks, I'll leave the mem'ries
Of a baby upon their knees

I'll leave the night time to the dreamers
I'll leave the songbirds to the blind

I'll leave the moon above
To those in love
When I leave the world behind

Re: What will your "final song" be?

Thank you for the replies you lot.

I raised this subject with my daughter and son-in-law tonight and their requests were "I Can Dream" by Elvis for Steve and "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" for Lauren.

That did make me chuckle I have to say.

I don't know who you're talking about Annie.

I love the Roy Orbison version of Danny Boy and also the Lena Martell version too.

Re: What will your "final song" be?

Well not trying to be greedy but I have got 5 records already on a CD for my funeral.
Starts with Riders on the Storm, The Doors
Eleanor Rigby, The Beatles
All Along the Watchtower, Jimi Hendrix
Wonderful Life, Black
On the Beach, Chris Rea.
I will be singing along with them somewhere
