Re: Street gangs of Calgary

They certainly look in prime condition Bob, is there a hunting season for them or are they permanently protected for some reason?

Re: Street gangs of Calgary

Great photos Bob. Elk are very impressive animals and quite common on the outskirts of Calgary. We used to see lots of them once out of the city. They are related to our Red Deer and can be dangerous, partiularly in the rut. I believe they are now being farmed in Alberta along with Bison. They are hunted for their meat, skins, etc. and they make good eating, although I think the hunting is regulated these days.

Beautiful animals - I've often wondered if those huge antlers are ever a hindrance to them

Lovely Pictures. I have often thought that too about their antlers. What if they got stuck in very thick branches. Better not think about that.
