Is it Fair?

Is it fair that Northern Power sponsor sport, out of the money that people pay them for power.
I don't think it is fair that they sponsor the Championship football league.
We have banks sponsoring sport as well, and there must be other companies doing the same too.
It must be us paying for it in the long run, with their high pricing.

Re: Is it Fair?

None of the power companies should be sponsoring anything
Competition isn't working for consumers where utilities are concerned, they should all be none advertising none profit making in other words a national company .

They need generous sponsoring so they can pay footballers £100k per week. Surely you don't mind paying a few extra quid for your power to achieve this !

Re: Is it Fair?

I have always advocated that all sports should run on their own merit, if they make profits pay the participants what they can. Sponsorship is only taking money from people who may not even be interested in the sport.

Precisely Bob, but the current situation stems directly from Thatcher's (phth, phth, phth) privatisation of the utility companies which we previously owned as nationalised industries. It is interesting, that today, the Sunday Mail is now calling for the re-privatisation of the Railways - funny that!!!

And it has been said recently, that the power companies should be nationalised as well Geoff.
Seems to me that things seem to be going round in circles, trouble is have we learnt anything? I doubt it, we shall make a right mess up of them again.

I have heard that the Government, are going to invest in a new formula one track, Silverstone is no good.
The new track will have about 30 U turns.
