Fiesta in Crevillente

A Moors and Christians fiesta last night. The procession took approximately 3 1/2 hours, it was colourful, noisy and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The float where the lady is standing above the snake was great, it started off flat and then it raised high as the snake came out. It doesn't take much to amuse me on a cheap night out, haha.

I love looking at your photos of Spain's many Fiestas and Processions, Loretta...... they are always so colourful and exciting.

Glad you enjoyed it ...... much better than the ban this and ban that processions we get here!

It puts our small-town carnival to shame.

Re: Fiesta in Crevillente

Thank you all. We really do enjoy going to the fiesta processions, there is always a wonderful atmosphere, we have never seen any unpleasantness at all in all the years we have been here. The costumes are indeed very spectacular and must cost an absolutel fortune but they bring so much pleasure to everyone in these times of doom and gloom they must be worth whatever the cost.

I'm sure UK style health and safety would have a field day here with ropes and barriers etc and there was a muslim cleric a couple of years ago who wanted them stopped and made a big song and dance about it but he was told in no uncertain terms if he didn't like it then he could go back to where he came from. Quite right too.

These are real family events and even the tiny babies get dressed up, the little boys and girls behave every bit the princes and princesses, they have all the movements, it's wonderful to watch them. There are also many children in the bands, many Spanish children seem to start band practice at a very early age.
