It's really big business down here - the farmers and landowners can charge in the £000s for a day's shoot to the gullible Londoners. They go out shooting in the morning and the locals act as beaters (frightening the pheasants out of their hiding places) and then they're shot - doesn't really take any skill at all. Worse thing is at the end of the day the dead pheasants are just discarded in hedgerows. It just disgusts me how these gentle and sensitive birds are treated with such utter disdain by absolute morons.
