I'm in full agreement with you Meg, they say (government) they want to keep us all alive for as long as possible and at the same time they're telling us they'll have no money to pay the pensions because there are too many of us!. Who are they trying to cod?. Truth is they don't give a damn, so enjoy yourself every chance you get.

My mum was a very heavy smoker for most of her life. She died at 83 - but not from lung cancer (although she must have suffered with COPD - she just never accepted any treatment). She eventually suffered a massive heart attack and died within the day.
We were always trying to persuade her to cut down/stop smoking, but all it did was to make her miserable. She found it impossible to stop and in the end it seemed to be her only pleasure. I suppose you could say she "paid her money, and took her chance".

My Dad is 93 and I still have a pint with him every Sunday morning at his local, he smoked until the smoking ban came in (6 years ago over here, I think) then he said he was 'Getting fed up smoking anyway', now he only smokes about 10 a day.
